Help Us Raise Funds for War Child and You Could Win a Custom Bat
Imagine being a terrified, helpless child in a war zone. Imagine a child you love being trapped in a war zone.
Unthinkable, isn’t it?
War Child go directly into the most terrible of situations and provide sustenance, care and hope for these poor souls.
Last Saturday B3 were proud to support a very special cricket match in aid of War Child, a charity that helps children whose lives have been torn apart by war.
The match between Heaven Help Us CC and Authors CC took place on a beautiful day at Barkby United CC in Leicestershire.
B3’s MD, Michael (Blathers) Blatherwick, had the honour of captaining the Heaven Help Us team which featured former England allrounder Chris Lewis and Kamlesh Patel OBE aka Lord Patel of Bradford.
The Authors X1 captained by Nick Campion, winner of the 2019 Wisden Writing Award, batted first and scored an impressive 226-4 off their 35 overs.
In response Heaven Help Us CC started poorly, losing Lord Patel for a duck. However, his son, Dru Patel and Chris Lewis, then put on a century stand. The Authors then bowled tightly and made it difficult for the fresh batters and Heaven Help Us CC, were all out for 195. Blathers scored a decent 22 but holed out to deep mid-off again!
